Sally lives in North Yorkshire with her husband, two grown-up children and Ziggy the small dog. She is happiest by the sea, whether that’s the Yorkshire Coast or Cornwall, which is where her awareness was initially raised about reducing plastic use and single-use plastic waste. So, in 2018, she began to make some planet-friendly changes. That Summer she sourced some local beeswax and her beeswax wrap journey started. She proud that her tried and tested Yorkshire beeswax blend results in a flexible food wrap that adheres to itself and to containers well. The wraps continue to receive great feedback too and are stocked in shops across Yorkshire and online too!
Starfish Living is an eco-friendly company trying to make zero-waste and sustainable choices. Recycled/recyclable cardboard packaging are part of this ethos. Any waste is avoided, where possible, even using trimmings to make ecofirelighters and scraps of fabric to make reusable face pads. The name ‘Starfish Living’ gives a happy nod to the seaside as well as finding inspiration from the story about the small boy on a beach throwing one starfish at a time back into the sea. The positive message is that even individuals making small changes CAN make a difference to help save the planet. Just give it a try!
